Linux Operating System Operates Linux Server
An operating system refers to a set of programs and platforms that help run a computer. It is involved in managing the computer’s hardware and in executing different application software. Operating systems are a vital component in any computer operation.
Linux is a type of operating system that is similar to Unix. Since it is an operating system, it is meant to be installed in computers but can also be used for video game consoles, mainframes, and mobile phones. Linux is an example of open source software. It is available for free and source codes can be altered and redistributed.
The design of Linux is based on Unix operating systems. Majority of the design of Linux operating systems are based on the design principles of Unix OS released during the 1980s. Linux operating systems make use of a monolithic kernel also known as a Linux kernel. It is responsible for accessing the file system, networking, processing control, as well as peripheral access. Drivers for devices can be integrated into the kernel or added as a module.

Want To Run Linux? Buy An Old Laptop
Laptops over the past decade have improved significantly. The brand new models are so fast and so cheap that most applications will run almost flawlessly with the processing power that these laptops provide. One of the bigger issues that this causes is that the raw processing power of a new laptop is so good that most people could get away with using an older lower powered one to do their day to day computing tasks.
With operating systems like Linux, even on the brand new distributions, they are not using that much Ram or processing power. The idea of buying a brand new laptop to run Linux when it will work just as fast on an older laptop doesn’t make sense financially. Some opt to buy a used laptop and put their favorite version of Linux on it instead of a brand new purchase.
